How does the stock market work?
You ask: How stock market work?
Big hunt team need many spears but no meat to trade yet. So team sell little pieces of itself — each piece called share. Give team meat now, own slice of all future hunts. That is stock. Market is big trading rock where people buy and sell these pieces from each other all day. Price not fixed. If many hunters think team will catch big mammoth, many want piece — price go up. If team look weak, hunters sell fast — price fall. So price is tribe's best guess about future meat. Owner of share get slice of profit, called dividend, or sell piece later for more shells. Over many many winters, all pieces together grow about ten shells in every hundred each winter — but some winters they fall hard. Cave wisdom: stock market not sell mammoth. It sell tribe's guesses about tomorrow's mammoth.
